Blocks free radicals, supports the gastrointestinal system and promotes joint health.
Curcumin has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumour, and hepatoprotective properties.
It acts mainly on the liver, pancreas and colon, but its anti-inflammatory action also extends to the joints.
Since the mechanisms of inflammation are also involved in the processes of oncogenesis, Curcumin may also fight tumours.
In addition, Curcumin’s ability to concentrate in the liver and its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties form the basis of its hepatoprotective activity.
Usually used in case of: arthritis, arthrosis, colitis, biliary colic, dyspepsia, liver disease (e.g. liver failure, biliary retention).
An observational clinical study investigated the effect of a turmeric extract on patients with irritable bowel syndrome. 500 patients suffering from this disease were enrolled and were then treated with 1 or 2 capsules of turmeric extract by mouth for 2 months. The intensity of their symptoms was measured using validated analog visual scales, the quality of life index and a subjective effectiveness evaluation.
At the end of the study, 41% in those who took only 1 capsule and 57% in those who took 2 capsules saw an improvement in their symptoms. In particular, abdominal pain was reduced by 22% and 25% in both cases, with an improvement in quality of life in 36% of patients treated with 2 capsules of extract. Approximately two-thirds of patients rated the treatment as effective, without showing any significant side effects.
